Winnie
Yamaguchi
Program Support Advisor
Winnie Yamaguchi is the Program Support Advisor. Her focus is to coordinate, arrange and provide support for the Center events and projects. She assists the Program Support Manager to synchronize work and staff support and assisting in managing the scheduling of events. Ms. Yamaguchi manages the Center's Combined Humanitarian Assistance Response Training (CHART) and Training Assistance Program (TAP) courses. In collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ms. Yamaguchi has also directed the Health Emergencies in Large Populations (HELP) course since 1998. In addition to her duties of planning and coordination she oversees course certification and accreditation of all the courses.
Prior to coming to work for the Center, Ms. Yamaguchi was a Department of Defense Civil Service employee with the US Army for nine years holding various positions at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI. She began her career in the Department of Pediatrics as a Medical Clerk in 1989. In 1991, Ms. Yamaguchi was promoted to Secretary of the Surgical Nursing Section in the Department of Nursing where she received the distinguished Department of Nursing Award for Excellence. Ms. Yamaguchi was then promoted to Secretary to the Chief, Department of Patient Administration in 1995 and received the Civilian Award for Excellence through the Department of Defense.
In her spare time, Ms. Yamaguchi volunteers for various organizations. She is especially involved with her son’s school , volunteering for several projects.
