November 2001

COE will participate in a conference on peacekeeping operations, with an emphasis on contributing nations from the Pacific Basin, hosted by Australia 20 - 24 November.


December 2001

The Center will hold a Combined Humanitarian Assistance Response Training course in Honolulu, Hawaii 3 -7 December. The CHART course is designed to provide basic information about complex contingency operations in an international arena to both military and civilian personnel.

An Enhanced International Peacekeeping Capabilities (EIPC) Phase II event will be held 3-14 December in Monterey, California, at US Naval Postgraduate School. Up to 30 participants are expected from several countries. COE provides instruction and curriculum. January 2002

The Third Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) will receive customized training from the COE as part of the Training Assistance Program (TAP) 21-26 January in Okinawa, Japan. The five-day course will cover issues related to complex humanitarian emergencies, planning, operations and health issues.


February 2002

The South East Asia Complex Contingency Seminar will be hosted by Singapore. The seminar, the first event of the second year of the Center's Asia Pacific Peace Operations Capacity Building Program, will focus on the lessons learned from East Timor. The United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations will co-sponsor the event.
